I have water facets in 3 of my largest coops and in one brooder room.
It sure beats hauling water!! I have used automatic waterers, but haven't found the one I want to keep using yet. My problem is cleaning them out. It is a pain to disconnect them every day to clean out, so I now use large pans and just pick them up and dump them and wash out every day. In the brooder room, I use 3 and 5 gallon waterers, so I just pick them up and take them outside to clean, but I don't have to carry them full of water back into the brooder room, I can just fill them inside, which is really nice.
I don't know who it was, but I remember a member had auto waterers and they had installed drains when building the coop and had the waterers (connected with a short hose) sitting on top of the drains, so all they had to do was pick the waterer up, dump it down the drain, let the water flow fill up and rinse it out again and set it back down. I really liked that idea, but all my coops are very old (around 40 years), and so installing drains is just not an option.
I think the pictures were posted on the BYC ezboard forum.
