So I’ve been training the chickens with some key words, and my Roo is incredibly smart and has learned his name, gentle, roost up, and food time lol. (The last was easy)

I use “roost up” when everyone needs to get into the coop, adverse weather generally, or I have a lingerer outdoors. “Gentle”, because my roo can be a pecker (haha pun intended) with treats I hand feed.

I can call them to the run for dinner is “here chick chick chick, chookie chookie chook” I use this also when I want them in the run for their safety.

What else can I teach them? How did you do it?

I taught gentle, by closing my hand when treating if he got aggressive, and when he was softer I added more treats. Usually meal worms. Those are a favorite lol!

I taught “Roost up” by saying it and being in the coop with treats.

I’m game for more fun things!

I only never trained them to "here chick chick" using treats and that was enough to get them back in the coop/run/away from the strawberries. It never crossed my mind to get more elaborate with it! Go you! You can teach them to play piano next like that famous chicken on America's Got Talent!

I’ve trained a few of my girls to jump onto my arm when I hold it out. Backfired a bit since they’ll now jump on me whenever they want food. My advice would be make sure theres a command for it!!

I'm impressed! Either you or your chickens must be smarter than me and my flocks!

ONE of my chickens knows what to do when I say, "Dottie, perch" so she will climb onto my arm to get relocated.

I've had more success with my ducks and geese. Both groups know to get into their shelters when I say, "house, house," regardless of whether food is involved. But they would certainly rather be rewarded with treats!

I’d probably have to learn to play first. lol, and that is not happening. 😂

Im exactly the same, I tap my arm and they fly to it, it's a neat trick and it's great for getting them over fences and stuff, but yeah, they think I'm a permanent roosting bar :D
