Anyone treat mites on chickens with pour on Ivermectin??

Just found out my girls have mites. I put a post up today first asking if I had any. Well, I do, as I saw them crawling around one of my hens vent. I have read that I can put a few drops of Ivermectin pour on on the chickens, and that should take care of the mites. I know I will also need to treat the coop, probably with Sevin? Anyone use Ivermectin topically for mites? Also, are they transmittable to my house and able to cause an infestation here?

Ivermectin will treat mites. Mites move slowly if at all, too busy sucking blood. Here's a link to help you identify external parasites. Sevin dust for the coop, nests, roosts repeat dusting in 7-10 days.

I don't know how many chickens you have (I only had seven, and they were tame), but I used puppy flea shampoo to bath them and those chemical bombs in the coop. The mites did die after two baths. I know most chicken farmers swear by Seven powder, but I was uncomfortable with the toxiticy of it.

I believe it is 0.5 cc for large fowl.. i am dealing with the same thing right now but with a hen who just hatched some chicks.

I found a page on line that shows how much per weight of chicken. It is a BYC page, but of course, can't find it now. I went ahead and treated the girls with the pour on Ivermectin. I then dusted the bjeebers out of the coop and the wood base of the run. However, I'm curious as to how one dusts the inside roof of the coop, lol! I saw some Sevin spray at the store, and I'm thinking of using that to spray the places that the powder doesn't cover well. Has anyone ever used that? Also, my girls have a run, but also free range. Should I keep them confined to the coop and run until this is all over, or is it ok to let them out in the yard too?
