Anyone tried hanging baskets of grass?

I've done the grass growing through a frame, but just had the idea of placing a hanging basket low enough for the birds to eat, but then cannot scratch it out and kill it. Anyone tried this?

I was actually thinking about a similar thing today. I am going to be putting little flower window boxes on the front windows of my coop (because I am silly like that..) where the chickens can't get to them, but what if I made boxes for the windows that will be in the run as well and planted long grasses in them?? I wonder if it would work? If you try it, be sure to let us know, and I'll do the same.

I am doing the grazing frames on the uncovered section of my run too, but thought it might be nice to have some under the roof too!

These sound like great ideas but how would you keep your chickens out of them? They seem to get into everything!! Especially what you don't want them in.

Well my thought was to cover the top of y boxes with hardware cloth same as the grazing frames. That way they can stand on them and eat all they want and still not get the roots. This might not work for the hanging planters as they have to spinning and flyin around factor if they jump on them... Though, do chickens try to get up on feeders and waterers when they are hung?
