Anyone up for a Hatchalong?

Ok I just checked my other 3 eggs and A & C are whistling back as well! I'm pretty sure I know the answer but I'm going to ask anyway, that means they have sounded/broken into the aircell doesn't it? Egg E's aircell end is still cool to the touch so I'm assuming it hasn't yet but I can't believe 2 of the regular shaped eggs are whistling back as well! I may have already asked but I didn't know eggs A & C were sounded so maybe its a lil different answer with normal eggs but how long is normal for them to be sounded before they pip the shell? I'm not rushing them just want to stay in the know lol, I didn't know it would be this nerve racking but omg it definitely is!!!
maybe .. maybe not.. i had one that peeped back at me 5 days before hatch and he hadn't broken through the air cell when he first started talking to me

when they first break through into the air cell part of the air cell will still remain cool.. it seems that as they get closer to hatch and turn around to prepare to pip that the air cell becomes a little warmer each day

for my eggs.. I had several sound 3 days before they hatched.. one of mine sounded then hatched the very next day.. so it all depends on how badly they want to get out of that shell and if they have absorbed the yolk sack yet.. if they have enough oxygen then they will absorb it and are ready to get out sooner than if they are oxygen deprived and breathing carbon dioxide

Unbelievable Kathy. I try for a year to get a pair. I DNA test mine twice, have the vet vent sex them once, then DNA every emu for sale in the state of California, then hatch one male. Finally have too buy two female chicks. I ship Kathy eggs and she gets a pair right off the bat! The emu gods hate me. But I am so happy for Kathy!

Oh ok, I had no idea some can peep before they even internally pip, but I guess I should've known that because I'm pretty certain my football egg is at the wrong end & it was the first to talk to me. Thank you that's exactly what I wanted to know, the potential time frame they could have between peeping & hatching...I had no idea if it was always a day or like you said different lengths of time depending on the chick. I changed the bator shelves around to give the chicks more room to hatch. I only have one shelf now that's right in the middle, giving both pairs of eggs plenty of head room to hatch, I also put B on the bottom since I'm thinking it's more likely to hatch before the others. I just realized that Egg E, the only egg that hasn't talked to me, was incubated on my lower level along with my did egg D while ther 3 that have peeped at me were on the top. So that's probably why it's behind the others, it developed in a degree or so lower temp...in a few hours at noon they'll be on day 48! I remember some of you had chicks hatch before day 50, what day were they on?

  LUCKY you Kathy!!
That's awesome, I'm so happy for you! You're keeping them aren't you? If so how lucky is that, especailly after reading what the Sheriff went through! Of course when you really want something that's what happens lol. Good for you, just think in a few years you'll have dinosaur eggs of your own...do you plan on getting anymore eggs to hatch before they're old enough to expand your duo or are you wanting just the 2? If I can I'd like to get some more eggs this season before they stop laying but I'm not sure yet since I'm getting 3-5 Rhea eggs to hatch in April...I'm hoping I can meet the breeder half way (he's in NC) instead of having them shipped & since they can be candled I know I'd be heart broken if I saw broken aircells. Anyone else hatching Rhea eggs this year? If not hopefully some will still be setting emu eggs, well I'm sure even ones recently set should still be incubating in April.

Who all set eggs lately, Yinepu (6?), ChasSquirrel (4?), Farmerboy (2), & Edentia Farms (2 new plus Earl on day 31 now). Woohoo that means at least 50ish more days of this season's HatchALong, it's been so great being a part of it with everyone :)

Yours should hatch any day then

here's my "days to hatch"...

C-1 was day 50
C1-4 was day 47
A was day 49
A-2 was day 51
A1-J was day 50
A2-J was day 51
C4-A was day 51
E-1 was day 48

in retrospect I should have kept track of which day they sounded too..

I set 6.. due dates are May 4th and 5th

When I got the older eggs the lady i got them from said she wasn't sure how old they were.. one I know is bad.. so we'll have to knock that count back to 5
I have another that I suspect is bad as well.. going to give it a little longer though before I remove it from the bator

I haven't heard from her daughter.. so she either hasn't bothered to go look for eggs or she is collecting them to give them to me all at once.. personally I would rather make several trips and get them into the bator ASAP.. but for all I know their female has quit laying.. guess I'll know in a few weeks either way
