I have another wiggler :)
I have started with 4 eggs in my first batch, it took this one longer then others but so far all 4 are developing normally. Other 3 are younger so now I will be whistling to them also. I am still worried for them to go through this whole hatching ordeal.
By your experience what should one be ready for in a hatch?

Great set up you gt your self here.
I know we will have a problem because my adult do not stay in the pen they are wild birds and like to be free. I will have to keep the babies at home like you did and later use a large pen outside. I am hopping they will see each other through the chain link and maybe in time will accept them in their pack.
Do you still use lights for them ? Looks like there is something hanging inside the pen. How long did they stay indoors before you took them out? I am obsessed mother and they didn't even hatch yet. I just want to kiss those little feet when they hatch

That is the problem we are having Irine. My little ones are seven weeks old. Sometimes when we let them out with the big boys everything is fine, other times they are chased and stomped.

Here is our set-up. We moved the little ones from the garage a few days ago and put their cage inside the emu shelter. At night they are locked in for safety During the day we open the cage and let the little ones have the run of the shelter and lock the bigger ones out. When we are out there we let the little ones out with the big ones.

Hi Irine,

Most of the chicks that have hatched have had open belly buttons that were bleeding. I have been usins betadyne and quick stop for this.

the other isue had was the chicks with wry neck that I treated with vitamin E & selenium. One Died and one recovered. I would address that if it happens. I have been using the save-a-chick vitamins from tractor supply in the water for the first few days.

Make shure they have a non slippery floor and a warm brooder to go into after they hatch.

Msheets,

33 is the number but we did loose a couple of eggs one leaker and a sloshy one.

Here are the stats so far.
1-5 shipped eggs from Kaya all fertile and devoleped 2 hatched both with wry neck one died.
6-10 local eggs all hatch and are healthy.

Hatch cam is off

brooder cam is back on here is the link.

I moved it into the brooder with the others and turned the hatch cam off. I also turned the brooder cam back on. We are up to 6 in the brooder.
