Anyone up for a Hatchalong?

It's great so many of us are having such great luck & the couple that lost their babies or had duds, please try again! The more experience you get the better off you'll be & then shipped eggs are a gamble regardless of your experience level so next time might be perfect.

I can't believe tomorrow my egg's will be on day 40!!!! It feels like yesterday I drive to Ohio to pick them up & now they could hatch in a week! 4 out of 5 are wiggling like crazy with 1 being infertile. I guess thats not bad though because isn't it true that emu eggs average about 80% fertility? If so them that's what I got, 4/5 so 80%. Also for those that don't know these werent shipped eggs but picked up from a breeder. I hope so much that all 4 hatch, I am really worried about B, my extremely football shaped egg, I do know the aircell end so I think I might still a hole in it on day 47 or maybe later actually. If the chick is malpositioned, will it sound? I'm guessing it won't internally pip into the aircell with it being malpositioned?

Yinepu, how should I lift the aircell end higher & did I wait to long for it to help the chick? Wow I just can't believe I'm getting this close to their due date, & hopefully, their hatch date!

day 49 and 50 for the first batch of eggs, no tinkers, 2 sounds different from the rest, like a dunk dunk rather than dink dink ...no wigglers no stinkers,,,, no nothingggg!!!!!! im so anxious.... do not know if theres any life in there goshhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Polli you must be going crazy, I know I am for you!! If the 2 sound different, maybe they sounded? I've never heard it before so I'm not sure what it sounds like, did you tap it with something metal? I think that's what I heard you do, guess it makes sense...oh my gahhh I hope you get a chick I really do!!!!

Irine, I can't see your video links (if I'm even supposed to lol), do you mean they're on your YouTube channel? I definitely want to check them out, I'm going to go see...so how many eggs do you have left to hatch now?

Yinepu, you have 3, right? 2 due the M15th with one already pipped then one due in April?

I never could figure out that tapping thing, or when they "sounded." I nearly gave up hope, until I saw one egg wiggle one day.

There is still hope! Don't give up!

I would wait til day 49 for drilling the hole in the football shaped one if you're planning to do that.. but that's just me

I put some rolled up paper towels under the aircell end of my football shaped eggs.. worked fine until one of the other hatching chicks moved them around.. lol
You can lift the end any time.. once the egg sounds then the chick moves into the correct position to pip the shell (hopefully anyway) and yeah.. the football eggs still sound.. or at least all of mine did.. one used his beak to break the membrane.. the other chick used his feet.. but the sounding can also be caused by the membrane pulling away from the shell.. so an egg can sound when the chick hasn't actually pipped through the membrane.. which is why some of the rotten or infertile eggs have a different sound than good eggs
