Anyone up for a Hatchalong?

Pics
Just weighed in my eggs for the first week too.

Egg A
1/20 (Day 1) - 691.3 g
1/26 (Day 7) - 676.8 g (14.5 g/2.14%)

Egg B
1/20 (Day 1) - 676.3 g
1/26 (Day 7) - 663.2 g (13.1 g/1.97%)

I thought it was funny that Egg A now weighs almost the same as Egg B did when I first weighed them.

Weigh in day....

A (from Elberta, Alabama)
day 1 625 grams
On January 20, (day 7) 615 (10 g lost or 1.60%)
On January 27, (day 14) 595 (20 g lost or 3.25%)

A-2 (from Elberta, Alabama)
day 1 594 grams
On January 27, (day 7) 584 (10 g lost or 1.68%)

D-1 (from Sonora, California)
day 1 505 grams
On January 27, (day 7) 496 (9 g lost or 1.78%)

D-2 (from Sonora, California)
day 1 582 grams
On January 27, (day 7) 571 (11 g lost or 1.89%)

I'm not sure why egg A had such a big jump since the last weigh in... I suppose time will tell!

I just ordered a scale that is 1000gram by 0.1 grams, is that ok? I looked up that 1000grams equal 1 kilo which is 2.2 pounds...is my scale ok?

Ok good thanks, yinepu how many emu eggs total do you have now? Since I think I'm going to have to get mine shipped, it might be safer to order 3 eggs from 3 different farms. That way if the USPS damages one shipment, maybe the other 2 will be ok & that way I'm not "putting all of my eggs in one basket" lol. I was thinking of having them shipped via express but when I looked it up for the zip codes, it says my package would take 2 days to get to me? I thought express was overnight? It's almost triple the price, which is fine if they get to me in one day but if it takes 2 days then I might as well use priority...it says express is their fastest method, so I'm guessing they technically don't have gauranteed overnight shipping then? Anyone know if express would be easier on them?

If you truly want overnight shipping, you could have them ship either FedEx or UPS. I ship and receive reptiles and amphibians using both those services and they have an overnight service that is guaranteed by 10:30 the next day. Shipper sends animals out at around 4:30 p.m. the night before and the box is in your hands by 10:30 a.m. ... unless you live way out in the stix and then it's by noon or 4 p.m., still less than 12 hours. The cost is by weight and box size for example, a 12 x 12 x 12 box weighing 3 pounds costs around $40-$60 for priority overnight shipping. Depends on how far away the shipper is from you. Don't know if you want to spend that kind of money or not.

i have 15 total.. from several different places and for some of the eggs that came from the same breeder I got them in different shipments.. lol.. does that make any sense?

I figured with as many different places/shipments that I got that hopefullyt he postal service didnt kill them all

That's exactly what I'm going for yinepu! I'm shooting for 9 eggs to up my chances of actually hatching a chick like you are, 9 will fit in my Reptipro but I also have an LG to do maybe I can make the alterations that you did so I can get that many more eggs. How many fit comfortably in your LG?
Also 9catz, thank you for that info! I'm going to go through FedEx or UPS instead. I don't care how much shipping is as long as its overnight & safer than USPS priority. FedEx & UPS seem like they'd be easier on the packages in my opinion, they just seem more personal than the USPS & I think they might actually ready the FRAGILE on the side of the box. Thanks for the info you all.

On a reptile forum I read they did a test by shipping packages with sensors in them and the usps had more movement by sorting but fedex had more temp changes. so you can choose between broken eggs or frozen eggs

usps no longer has a next day shipping due to budget problems. they have raised their prices on many services and just cut other services completely.
just some info I picked up.

Remember the seller might not have access to a UPS or FedEx store/location. Priority mail is 2-3 days depending on your location and the sellers. You can also ask your post office about po to po shipments. The post office usually gets the package in a day or two. The label will be your name c/o anytown post office, city state zip code and your phone number to call you when package arrives. Remember it is not only the PO handling your packages it is also the airline ground crew. I had a pair of peacocks sit on the tarmat for 12 hours cause they forgot to put them on the plane ????
I have 7 eggs from 2 sellers. I bought 2 eggs from one seller and 2 from another then 3 more from the same seller. I had one egg that was bad and the seller sent me a new one. So far so good all are losing weight. All came priority mail. One seller "Emufolks" boxes each egg in it's own box then puts those boxes into a larger one to ship. I purchased 5 eggs from them.
