I snipped the hobbles in half to see where it was at and haven't removed the rest yet. the hobbles move around and aren't tight on the legs

all my eggs are done I ended up with 6 infertile 3 healthy and one weakling that didn't make it out of the shell. next year I will wait a little longer to get my eggs it seems a lazy male wasn't doing his job so early in the season. the last chick to hatch had splayed legs so I made it some hobbles out of regular clear tape I used a 1 1/2" piece folded sticky side in on each leg, that way you can just snip them off when you don't need them anymore and the chick doesn't get all sticky. I used neon colored zip ties to id each of my chicks you can id as many as you want just record what bands you put on which leg and what color they were. leave them pretty loose and snip the ends off at the lock part of the tie so they don't tighten them on their own. check them every few days and snip any tight ones and put on the same color bands looser. my dog thinks the chicks are puppys
awww.. sorry yours had low fertility

your dog reminds me of one of my old dobermans.. she would go into false pregnancy any time we had a new addition to the house.. ended up getting her spayed since she was so miserable and wanted to nurse everything.. it didn't help though, even though the vet said it would end it.. lol.. guess her mothering instincts were just too strong

I use strips of colored velcro to id my chicks... easy to make the bands larger and I found a lot more colors in the velcro than I did with the zip ties
