Anyone up for a Hatchalong?

My guy Gerry is doing excellent though, he had a hard time when Gertie died but he's doing much better now, he doesn't stress out when he's in his cage and not able to get to me anymore though he still doesn't like it when I leave the room.
I took him outside today to run around and I showed him some small rocks to swallow. First two times he was out there he didn't like it, did nothing but run around and cry but now he's happy to just follow me around. He's two weeks old today and already grown quite a bit since he hatched, I have to use two hands to hold him now.
He's just the friendliest little thing though, nothing bothers him and he just loves to sit in my lap and be pet, I can even pick him up and carry him around without him throwing a fit.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE those videos ! They are so cute the way the roll and dance around!

My baby was 3 days old, bellybutton was almost gone. He was active and getting strong- at least that's what I thought. All of a sudden I heard him calling me, I came to him,he was very active, as I picked him up I noticed that his eyes where half closed. I tried to give him some vitamin water...it was to late - he died in my arms a minute later. I tried CPR...
I am glad that Gerry is doing great :)

Yeah, I woke up at 5 AM and found her laying in the corner and held her till she died about 5 minutes later, she was 6 days old. It's a real shame because she was doing so much better than when she hatched, it just took too long for her to get better.

Ok here are my results for eggs 8 & 9:

Egg #8 - 548 grams
Day 7 (3/22)- 540 - 8 grams or 1.46%
Egg #9 - 562 grams
Day 7 (3/22)- 553 - 9 grams or 1.601%

They seem kinda low for 7 days. I have egg 8 on the top shelf and egg 9 is on the bottom shelf. 9 is actually closer to the fan. I did the calculations and they both should be around 11ish grams lost.

I am waiting on 4 more eggs coming from New York so they should give me a better hatch rate seeing they are coming on state over

I think closer is always better but sometimes people get lucky with looong distances, I don't see how hard it is for the USPS employees to be easy on the boxes...I know the sorting machines bounce them around but I think the employees to the most damage.

That's awesome they're coming from only a state away Yoda, I'm sure you're happy about that! I was so glad I found a breeder close enough for me to pick them up from, of course several have had great luck with shipped ones. I'm literatly preying that Polli gets a chick out of a shipped egg, it stinks their luck has been so crappy!

Omg those videos are so AdORABlE!!!! I love how emu chicks run around playing, it cracks me up every time lol. Also thanks everyone for welcoming little chick B :)

Thanks so much Kathy! How are your babes doing? I think B was early due to its oddly shaped egg as well as from incubating on the top shelf. Eggs A & C I can both hear peeping since yesterday (Tuesday) so I'm thinking they could hatch today or tomorrow, which will be day 50. Then egg E I can hear scratching around but not peeping yet but it was the only egg in the bottom shelf which was 1-2 degrees lower than the top so I expect it to be a day or so later than the rest. Even though I've known they were all alive since day 34 it still feels unreal they've actually started hatching, with one of them already asleep on my lap!

Yeah, they're a lot harder on packages than people realize but it's hard to blame them, they're on air tight schedules and mistakes happen when you have to rush things all the time.
I build black powder muskets as a hobby and I've actually had a barrel arrive dented before when the package got whacked by something along the way and I know a couple other people who have gotten dented or bent barrels.

ok day 38 for 2 eggs, did water test one drowned, one stays floating medium hight, no wiggling, think got 2 more duds, lockdown for 3 more eggs 2 wiggle yesterday
