Anyone Use a Brower Incubator?

I have one of these that's been in storage for years, I plugged it in and it still works but I couldn't seem to get the temp to hold steady, I was told I would have to replace the wafer? This is what it looks like....Not sure if I will keep it or just sell it, my Silkie hens make good little incubators ha ha.

You will regret it if you sell it!

I'm doing my first ever hatch in my brower that I purchased used this winter.

I am SOOOOO excited.

Thank you for all the good tips in here. Seeing the eggs layed on the wire confirmed what I was told, but it's always nice to hear something twice.

I am about to start my first hatch as well. I've had the incubator for a few years, but this is the first spring I am actually getting around to using it. Going to try it on bronze turkey eggs.

Quintinp - thank you for posting the pic of the Brower Thermometer that sold with this model - the 103 F recommended temp for this model is the info I was scanning the forum. Have you run a batch of eggs yet? Did you use the 103 temp atop the egg setting in still-air mode? Or do you use the 12 volt computer fan shown (and as I want to install in both of mine) and go for a 99.5 F setting? Please advise on what settings/humidity you used and what was you % hatch?
FYI - if you use 9 volts or 7.5 volts, the fan will run at lower speeds - quieter, and with less turbulence and drying/cooling effects. - jim

I used a single 12 volt fan in the incubator and I used a 9 volt inverter. I incubated at 99-100. The incubator fluctuates from 97 to 103, but don't worry, I got 18 chicks out of 21 eggs. My humidity was at 10-20% the first 18 days. Although I don't recommend it, I couldn't help it, and I didn't think it was that bad. I only use 35% humidity for the first 18 days in my other incubators.

Hey All! We have a similar incubator. We had no idea what it was called! But now we know it is a brower! We are very excited to hatch our Buff Geese eggs!

I read that you might be able to use egg turners from a newer incubators? Can someone link me to a resource to purchase or more info on this?

Thanks!!

Hi all,
I PM dbcooper also asking for the info they have.
I went out to the barn to find the old incubators and possibly use for brooders...then I found the thermometer in one of them and it said Brower, got me off and running trying to find more info. It brought me to this thread.
I checked the label and it said model 846 #11670-3
The other other incubator [BIG one] said Sears and Roebuck and model number 595-700-1 This one is huge, takes a lot of work to life the lid, it looks a good 5 inches bigger that the Brower.
The Sears is dirty, and has bad chewed up cord and missing the top light, but the Brower is like a used incubator but very nice, real good cord and has light and CLEAN inside Plus has thermometer, wire rack and ring but no water dish. Thermometer is marked for 103
Plan to try it out soon....I like the idea of the fan.....Not sure I'm up to turning those eggs all the time, the lid is so heavy, has anyone found a turner to work in these yet?
Thanks for the wonderful information!
