i was thinking of adding in some cutains to the inside of the coop windows just to look pretty. does anyone have some pics of their curtains for their coop

I've seen one on here but can't remember the user names. They get reallll dusty. We tried it in a tractor that stayed in the front yard, but they got dirty quick and the hen kept trying to roost on the rod since they were lower (she was a bantam)

Some people do -- there have been threads on it, try 'search' -- but it is not clear to me how many, if any, of the people who do that have had their coops in use very long.

Curtains do get *tremendously* dusty, and every time they are disturbed the dust resuspends into the air. We're not talking bedding dust, we're talking that super-fine greasy white 'chicken dust' from their dander etc.

I would really not suggest it.

Good luck, have fun,

Pat, with too many dust-catching objects/surfaces in the chicken bldg already, would never intentionally add *more* for just home-dec reasons

The curtains might actually stay cleaner if you put them on the outside of the windows!

I actually use Pretty Sheets to cover my laying baskets, which in return give my hens privacy in there. I do have to change the sheet once a month:( But, it's worth the fashion look.....lol

We use cardboard to keep the sun out on hot days. Not too pretty, but works like a charm.

I love to sew and will put curtains on any window except the chicken house for all the reasons listed above. But it is tempting....

i dont think that curtains would get too dusty in our coop because i use curtains over the nest boxes and they never get dusty. probably because we have a lot of windows in the coop.
