Is it necessary to stop eating the eggs of chickens treated with Blue Kote? For how long? I know the main ingredient is gentian violet which has been used for many many years for thrush in the mouth of children. I can't figure why it would be more hazardous to eat eggs from chickens treated with it. Any thoughts?

I am using blu-kote for one of my pecked hens right now and all is well. No problems with the eggs.

Using Blue Kote will not affect the eggs. Anytime you apply BlueKote to a bird you might want to wear gloves to avoid getting it on you. If you do, you can remove it easily with a cotton swab saturated with rubbing alcohol. You should do this before you wash with soap and water as that seems to make it more difficult to remove.
