I didn't know where to post this so...
Okay I love my chickens to death, but we have snakes, so I need to wait until we move to get chickens...so I'm only keeping my 2 big pullets right now. A snake just got 1 of my Rhode Island Red chick the other day, and I feel so bad! So I'm cutting down to just 2.
I have 2 Black Australorps, they both have had all there shots & are healthy...one of them is getting over an eye infection right now, but is doing great other then that! They were 5-6wks old on June 5th. So they are about 12wks old, and will start laying in/near December. They are beautiful birds, they are spoiled...I give them scraps (fruit, veggies, leftovers, salad, yogurt, etc.) everyday. They are all Purina Grower, mixed with a Layer. They also get grains, oats, cracked corn, as treats.
I also have a Barred Rock Hen...have no idea how old she is...and I think she is moulting right now. She hasn't laid any eggs since I've had her, I think she is retired. She is VERY friendly, waits by the gate every morning for her plate of healthy treats! She is very sweet. She lets me pet her as well. I think since we have 2 big dogs next to her, it may be stressing her, and that is why she is plucking her feathers...or she is moulting. I don't know. I named her Bubbles
And last but not least, we have 'Lido'. He is a Buff/Silkie mix. He has feathers on his feet. I love him, he is beautiful! He cock-a-doddle-doos mornings, but its not near as loud as most I've heard! I have no idea of his age, but he loves cheese!
As far as I know, none have live or mites...and I've checked quite a few times. I just don't have the money & time to keep them anymore, I'm in college...and my poor RIR got eaten by a snake..but then spit back up! Their are WAY too many snakes near me, BIG snakes, to have chickens. I need to build me a better coop & everything before getting anymore.
If your interested, let me know. I was hoping to get a little money for them, to get some money back, as I've put alot into them, but I don't know what to ask...but free if you can provide them a loving good home. Come & get anytime.
