Anyone want to see a goat being born? New Update Pics Pg 4

I am waiting on my CAE tests to see if any of the doe kids get to stay with my girls. I hope I can be there for the kiddings unlike last year. I have yet to witness one of my girls give birth. They both picked when I was at work or between checks at night.
Thanks for the vid.

Those pictures are so GREAT!!!

The coloring on Mom's side is very pretty. The little ones checking out and getting a sniff from your LGD is so sweet. And then the two little ones sleeping next to each other - one pink nose and one black - just precious.

Thank you Sweet Cheeks! I keep my LGD seperate from the kids for one week before adding the mother and babies back to the herd. My LGD is still fairly young and will curl up with and protect the babies even from the mom who needs to nurse them. I love the pink nose, she is a definate keeper! We plan on banding the white boy and selling him as a pet, most my boys go for meat but he is too pretty. Ying (the mother) has a near identical sister who I am pretty sure is her twin and I named the sister Yang. So Ying and Yang. Yang is our family milk goat because her baby was a stillborn. They both have rather impressive utters.

awwww I loved the video! the pictures are so cute!

Thank you Hobbit 1123! Goats are so easy to love

That is beautiful. We plan on adding pygmies to our home this year. What an inspiration.

Thanks Peck Johnson, pygmies are pretty cool! Are they just going to be pets?

Thank you for watching the vid Lifesong Farm! I think birth is wonderful and natural. No one can watch that and tell me animals dont feel pain LOL. All of our other goats have had their babies in the middle of the night. We dont worry about it or check on them unless they sound in distress. Ying just wanted to put on a show

.

I am sorry you are having trouble with CAE - that can be very frustrating.

I only had bucks last year so I didn't worry about the possibility. This year I purchased a new buck and a new doe so I started doing the testing. I just don't want to deal with it so I am waititng on tests. The results should be here this week or next week since I shipped them on Mon. One of my 3 girls I will leave babies on because her udder isn't the greatest. The first timer I will pull the kid from because I. Don't want to ruin her udder for show and same with my 2nd yr freshener.

I love the new pics. Soooo adorable!!

I bought most my herd all together and have not added any for over a year. I only have 7 adults and will never keep more than a dozen. I dont bother to test, as mine are for milk and meat and dont have any symptoms. I will need to buy a new buck this year but I always inspect the herd before buying a member of it. Usually (not always) if there are no signs in any of the herd members it is safe so I will still not bother to test unless symptoms arise.

I personally wont pull a kid unless it is absolutely necessary. I really need mine to function as a herd with as little interference as possible. Bottle babies are soooo sweet but I think it takes away from them being independent. I want them to need other goats, not me but... as I said I keep them for a very different reason as you. I can understand that for shows, they need to look a certain way and my goats that have only one kid have very lopsided utters since one side dries up.

Thanks for the compliment on the photos. I love to take photos. It is one of my many, many hobbies.

Oh my goodness. That sleeping picture is the sweetest thing ever! You could use that as your Christmas card picture. "Peace on Earth"

Thanks for sharing. Loved the video and the look on mama's face when that baby popped out.

Well, there was lots of flooding today in East Tennessee. For the first time since we have lived here, one of our goat pastures flooded. A moat had formed around their enclosure and my son and I got to go out in the thunder and lightning, wade through knee deep water and move our very unhappy herd to higher ground. Fun day.

All the kids and does are safe.

It's great you were able to get everyone moved and didn't have any losses. Not sure about your goats, but my two nubians hate change. They will cry their head's off if I make any changes to their goat house, location, feed times, etc.
