Well i used to raise them but most folks have no idea what they are. I switched to Nubians after a while. But i really do like Kikos. Had to sell the farm in TN and move to FL to help my parents.
Now we live in Virginia, and are having a goat shed built.

These guys are slow as molasses in winter! I built an 8x16 hoop coop while they do not even have this fully closed in yet!

So once they finish the goat shed, i am building a small loft in there and some pens.
I will be getting Nigerians because i am getting older and it can be tough wrestling full sized goats. I cut myself open with hoof rot shears once and sewed myself back up, AFTER i finished trimming that goats feet!:gig

I have looked into kiko, being in Oregon the wet climate hardy hooves are very enticing! We also have tons of blackberries needing eating! Would love to hear more about them from owners.

We were planning on getting kikos shipped to alaska but plans have changed.... But I am still going to get a cross up here.

Some of my original Kiko goats had problems with worms because the guy i bought them from didn't bother deworming them and his pastures were chewed way down where the parasites were heavy. Since i was new at the goat care, i had no idea and lost several young goats. It is a steep learning curve. I would recommend the Master Meat goat course if you can attend one. Lots of useful info. And buy Storeys Guide to Raising Meat goats.

I have a Boerki buck and 2 alpine does. I am new to goats. they are all 8-10 months old. I bought them all from same farmer I am concerned about my girls feet the previous owner had been treating them for foot rot it had almost gone when I got them to my farm. now it has come back in one of them what to do???

I am currently keeping them in my horse barn until they get used to us and get used to being here they are on shavings and are getting fed goat feed with hay and have a yellow salt block for their availability

They have blue green stuff you can get at feed stores. Also you need to keep trimming the feet until you get rid of the rot.
