I personally don't like to do realistic drawings so I stuck to cartoons and anime drawings

You are painting fine. Remember, painting isn't at all like markers. Your painting makes me think markers or pens. Paints blend way easier, make use of it! Loosen up your grip on the brush a bit. Motion plays a large part in painting too, don't get bogged down in the tedium when you are first starting. Learn to be loose first, then once you get the hang of that, then tighten up slowly.
