My dad asked me to put together a list of things we'll need to raise three chicks and here it is. Did I forget anything? (we have a brooder and the adult feed will come later.)

You won't need oyster shell until their laying and if you just save egg cartons it should be plenty
 
Now that someone's mentioned cost (above), I will say that I thought some of these items were a bit pricey. I think I spent about $78 to get started and that included the six chicks.

I cut costs by turning our lawn mower shed into the coop and using scrap wood to build the roosts, nests, and coop door -- plus my uncle gave me some chicken wire.

I shopped at Tractor Supply Co.

I use DuMor starter feed and it was $12 or $13 for 50lb.

I know I won't need oyster shell for a while, but I thought I'd include it because we will have to buy it eventually, so I might as well ship it with everything else.

As for egg cartons, we want small ones for giving to friends, neighbors, ect.​

Save your egg cartons that you currently buy eggs from the grocery store in. If they are for friends etc, they aren't going to care that it's a recycled carton...very responsible to recycle;).

In fact, I have a stack of waiting-to-be-recycled cartons in storage for when mine start laying.
