I'm outside the US and I'm getting ads from local companies. How does that work? Just wondering...

Use a browser that doesn't pass along info on where you've been, are arriving from (how ads are targeted - they're just trying to be helpful ) You can also Rclick on ad and `show properties/inspect element to determine `who' is serving it up, i.e., `google syndication, etc.) Always run the ads, here. If I was on dial-up and IE6 it might be a different story...

They are add targeted. So right now i have a lot of computer ad's because google 'knows' i vists sites about computers a lot.
