Today, Earth is at aphelion meaning it is at the point in it's orbit farthest away from the sun.

Kind of interesting.

Wow, never knew that. So when will the next aphelion be?

Next year about this time. The perihelion (when the Earth is closest to the sun) is in January. Which seems strange considering how warm it is in July, and cold it is in January. But it's all about the Earth's angle relative to the sun.

I love astronomy, except sometimes it blows my mind.
