that don't have an incubator... AND I CAN'T STAND IT ANYMORE!! You are all horrible and mean posting all those adorable sweet pics of the most darling little babies. So let me see..

I need one to put the eggs in
I need one to hatch some in
I need one to use as a brooder
and I need just one more to keep rotating new eggs from all the different kinds I want.

Is this about right?
I need to be on Ebay....RIGHT NOW!


We were going to wait until spring... BUT we found a house this week and hopefully can move into it in about three to four weeks. 3 acres, barn, coop already there in addition to the one I built which we will bring. Heck, we can use the whole barn as one gigantic coop.

FIRE THEM BATORS UP... I feel a major incubating project coming on!!!!!! So.. who has eggs??? Welsummer, australorps, blue orps, partridge rocks, cochins, speckled sussex, buttercups, hmm....anyone?anyone????

Just a little note for you, in general incubators make TERRIBLE brooders. We use a 250 watt heat lamp with the reflector, works very well, and costs a lot less than an extra bator.

I have hatched chicks in a bator made in the 60s that I bought from a byc ezboard person....never have used a hatcher...and I always use a large cardboard box as my brooder with a heat lamp with a 100 watt bulb...my chicks are kept inside in the house til they feather out or I move them outside with a heat lamp and heat bulb....

This year I did ask Santa for a new bator just cause I want to hatch out more than 20 chicks at a time

So see you don't need all those thingies!!!.....lol

Okay, I admit I was being a little silly when I said we were getting four. We'll probably start with one.

We had great success with using the huge dog kennel as a brooder and we have a great juvenile coop as they get bigger. I just wanted to fit in *sniff* with all you hatchaholics who continuously have eggs a going.

I might be selling a bunch of brooders soon. Guess I should figure out what these would cost to ship places. I have 5, I'm just rebuilding them. They have grates and feeder for both sides too.

Wow lonecowboy, that looks great. It is exactly like what our feed store has...about 10 stacked on top of each other with chicks packed wall to wall. This year I am either getting from my dear BYC buddies, or straight from the hatchery. It would be interesting to know how much it would cost to ship. zip 95602 thanks, Suz

I won't be using an incubator, just be using hens of a few breeds known to go broody alot. As I know for now, we'll be moving next month (if nothing else pops up to keep us where we are now), and it's been since 1978 that I've moved from the country as a pre-teen, so basically I'm starting from scratch. I'm not quite ready to dabble in hatching eggs myself--no confidence in that area--too much of a perfectionist, I guess!
