Hey everyone,
New to the forum and joined for the same reason most join I would imagine haha. Can’t figure out what breed this guy/girl is!
The story: Gardner’s cat had gotten to it and brought it to us to nurse and take care of for the day while he was at work...random bird in his yard, he does not care for chickens but some of the people in his neighborhood do, but I’ll leave it say it’s not an English speaking neighborhood so he didn’t search for ownership. Took it to the feed store to confirm species (weirdest looking chicken ever) and walked out with four sisters for it. I say it, because we don’t know, still, the sex. This all happened in the beginning of June and I would say the birthdate is literally right on June 1, 2017.
Anyways, as this bird has grown, the little fluff on the top of its head has gotten much more pronounced and it’s currently still about 2/3 the size of the Speckled Sussexes and Barred Brahmas.
The blue feet are what drive me nuts. And the head “poof”. Nothing makes this chicken easy to I.D. But I think it’s definitely got to be a mut mix of Spitz and something else. I’ve attached photos from the beginning til about a month ago. Tremendous growth/maturity since then, but still no idea.
As far as sex goes, I think it may end up being a male as it likes to distance itself from the four hens, and is very flighty. Also, makes some slightly roosterish noises but at a little over 4 months old, i would expect more vocals, these are more like an irritated hen. I’m sure the current pictures will help a lot so I’ll post more tomorrow.
