Appenzeller Spitzhauben- sexing?

At what age can you sex these babies. I love how they are growing in all speckledy. Sooo cute. Are there any early indicators?

Crowing and the headresses would indicate the sex. I didnt know mine until they were almost two months old.

The young males will have two little pimple like combs that show before the females start to show a comb. You will have to slick back the crest to see the little pimples. They will be found at the base of the crest near where the bill connects to the skull.

That's how I could sex mine (and fairly early, if I remember correctly).
I hatched and raised some Spitzhaubens a few years ago. I think they are just beautiful.

I know this is an old thread, but hoping someone will have insight. What if the bumps are starting down further, not up by the crest-line?
