My sister ordered some chicks today, so when they're ready we're going to pick up a box of (hopefully) 10 young lively pullets to raise and eventually add to our free-range flock.
Mostly she just got them because they look interesting, she said they remind her of Cruella de' vil.
They're said to be more winter-hardy and enjoy free-range life, so I think they should be a decent fit, but I'm still not entirely sure.
Do you have any experience with the breed?
I'm gonna have my hands full this year. We're going from a modest flock of 11, now with the potential of adding 26 chicks to that mix. (incubating 16 eggs, they're probably not all going to hatch, maybe none of them will, but you never know.) Up until this point, all we've ever had were Orpingtons.

I had only 2. I often forgot I had them. They do go out ranging a lot, and are pretty quiet birds. Mine liked to get up 20 feet to roost in my shed rafters.
