Hello All!

I read that you can mix some apple cider vinegar in a chickens water if they are sneezing, but I was wondering...is it okay to do if you are worming with Wazine? One of my girls has been sneezing and I wanted to try out the ACV, but I'm worming them with the Wazine right now and don't want to do anything that will harm them. Anyone know?

if you're using Wazine 17, you only use it for a day or so..
just wait to use the ACV..

I'd watch closely for any changes in the droppings..
they might have a respiratory illness..and not a heavy worm infestation.
ACV only cuts the mucus..doesn't treat respiratory illness..you need antibiotic for that.

please describe all symptoms in detail, and color and consistency of droppings.

Hi Sammi. I'm using Wazine 34. I've tried to stay in the run for awhile to watch all of the chickens droppings, but it none of them ever seemed to go when I was looking! I did notice that some of the droppings in the run were very dark black, but don't know who they came from. She is the "low chicken on the totum pole", but she seems fine otherwise.

Wazine 34 is also only used for 1 day.

Wazine-34
This treatment applies to the following species:

* Chickens
* Swine
* Turkeys

Manufacturer: Fleming
Turkey, Chicken And Swine Wormer
Fda Approved - Nada 10-005

For use in drinking water for the removal of large roundworms (Ascaridia spp.) from turkeys, chickens and large roundworms (Ascaris suum) and nodular worms (Oesophagostomum spp.) from swine.

Active Drug Ingredient:

Each 100 ml contains 34 grams piperazine base (present as sulfate).

Inert Ingredients:

Water, color, flavoring, preservatives and stabilizer.
Directions

For best results, remove water in the evening (except during hot weather). Then, early the next morning, give Wazine-34 in the drinking water. Provide medicated water only, distributed in waterers sufficient in number so that all birds or animals have access to water. The medicated water should be consumed in 1 day or less. Worming every 30 days helps break the large roundworm life cycle.
Turkeys

Under 12 weeks of age: for each 1000 birds, use 10 fluid oz. (300 ml) of Wazine-34 in 20 U.S. gallons (76 liters) of drinking water.

Over 12 weeks of age: for each 1000 birds, use 20 fluid oz. (600 ml) of Wazine-34 in 40 U.S. gallons (150 liters) of drinking water.

Worm turkeys at 4-6 weeks of age and thereafter at 30 days or as needed.
Chickens

4 to 6 weeks of age: for each 1000 birds, use 5 fluid oz. (150 ml) of Wazine-34 in 10 U.S. gallons (38 liters) of drinking water.

Over 6 weeks of age: for each 1000 birds, use 10 fluid oz. (300 ml) of Wazine-34 in 20 U.S. gallons (76 liters) of drinking water.

the difference in Wazine 34 and 17 is that each 100ml has 34 grams of piperazine while the 17 has 17 grams of piperazine per 100ml.

how much are you using?

it's possible that those dark messy droppings are cecal droppings.

are they shaking their heads or have mucus from eyes or beak?
any swelling of eyes or head (including wattles)?
do they have breath sounds?
(wheezing/rattling/gurgling)?
lack of appetite.
acting depressed.
hunched posture.
these are all possible signs of respiratory illness.
if so, they will need antibiotic.

give some vitamins and extra protein..such as chopped cooked eggs mixed with feed.

what bedding are you using?
has the coop been cleaned recently?
they could be reacting to dusts or dander, or ammonia.
