apple cider vinegar

Some where on this board I read about adding apple cider vinegar to the water for the chickens. How much do I add to a 3 gallon waterer?
Also how can I treat a bird that may have intestinal parasites? I'm going the route of non-medication or natural remedies I know about diatamacious earth but what else can I do?
