Appleyard Duck Eggs in the Bator - 1 is out!

Oh, sweet looking little Appleyard....Here is to the second one making it out.....

The 2nd pip is a little bigger and I can hear the baby in there!

This first baby was in a shoe box under the brooder light in the brooder with the orps that just hatched because it was just sleeping alot and we had some super cold weather over the past few days.

So I go in looking for him/her and the shoebox is empty. Oh No! where is the duck?

In the corner snuggled with some buff orps his size. Under the red light you have to look for the beak to tell the orps from the duck.

I hope this second egg hatches well. This little baby needs duck buddy.

I made of slurry of spinach and water I have been trying to get it to eat a bit of. It is not interested in more than a little beak dip. The first time it looked at me like, "Holy cow lady what are you trying to feed me." LOL

Very active little bugger.

Its so cute. It makes me want to get some duck eggs and put them in the bator. But I think my mom would officially crack, because I have sumatra eggs hatching tomorrow, 3 chicks in a brooder, 3 chicks in a rabbit hutch, and 9 chicks under a broody hen. And I am going to Tenessee in July.

I am hoping by the end of the day I'll have a second little duck.

The second duck hatched!

I think the other egg is done for. It was a super slow starter and had a very wonky air cell.
