I got some crushed barn lime, the right stuff not the hydrated lime. Already made that mistake. What's the best way to apply for odors ? Both my coop and run have construction sand. I've read multiple things. Should I just sprinkle some on top every few days or should I rake it into the sand ? I'm an avid pooper scooper, I do it daily but just wanna keep things fresh and odors down as much as possible in this heat. Any advice?

You are discovering that even with constant scooping odors can abound.
All the poops cannot be scooped out, even with a fine mesh, and once it gets damp it reeks.
How long have you need using sand...and what are your space and flock numbers.
Also....
Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!

I would try to solve the source where the odor is coming from instead of covering it up. Our weather has been over 100 and I have 11 chickens. Never have had an odor.
Would help to share what bedding you are using.

I'm not using anything other than the dirt that's naturally there in my run. In my coop I use shavings but do have poop boards.
