When spraying chickens with Permethrin, - spray directly onto affected area ? some of my girls are missing feathers around their vent- mites ? What ratio do I mix in 1 gallon sprayer ?>

Can we eat eggs same day ?

I haven't used the product myself, but it is suggested that a 10% spray can be used to treat the coop and nest boxes, and chickens in extreme cases. It has low level toxicity to animals and shouldn't be used on chicks. Don't use permethrin on cats.

There is also a dust version that you can use. You can see mites by parting the feathers around the vent, looking at the face, and looking under the wings or in other areas. Mites leave the chickens often during the day and come back at night, so treating the perches will kill many of them. Or so I've heard.

You can help chickens get rid of parasites by supplying a dust bathe (just some dust in a large box) and allowing them to sun-bathe. Chickens that have mites may have an underlying problem that does not allow them to dust bathe, so they are already weakened.

Hope this helps!
