Appropriate age for young hens to get a Roo?

I have a small flock of 5 hens all ~4 months old (not laying yet though). I have a friendly (to people) Polish Roo who is about 1 year old that needs to eventually join them (space issues). He's housed with two 5-month, more aggressive hens, and there are no problems.

What age for my hens is appropriate for him to be added in? Do I wait til they are already laying? (The 2 hens he is buddies with now are being sold.) I will eventually be adding 1 brahma and 1 polish hen to that flock, but they are only 10 weeks so was planning to wait longer for that.

Any thoughts or words of wisdom/warning are much appreciated.

Around 5-6 months should be a fine age. It'll be best if they've begun laying, but once they are about adult size, it should be fine.
