It's doable. They will quickly learn where they get fed and don't want to venture too far.
But expect predator losses. They are perfect snack size.

Mine get to free range while I'm out working in the yard. I keep them clipped and they stay relatively close. I first taught them a good recall though. I think that's important for free ranging.

I allow mine to free range in my fenced in backyard. I clipped one wing on each, and now that they know there's tons of food and forage here, they've shown no inclination of wanting to leave. They have an enclosure that I lock them in at night to protect them. They can definitely fly, and did when I first brought them home lol.
