April 2010 Pullets- wanna wait with me?

I am impatiently waiting. I have one br who has a red comb and wattles but no squatting. All but two of my girls are reddening up now but are only 16 weeks. This waiting is killing me!

We are waiting too! Our girls were hatched April 24th (from MPC) so we are a few weeks behind you.

We have 4 EEs, 2 NH, and 2 Welsummers.

One of the Welsummers is developing a really red comb and wattles. The other is still pale. Same with the New Hampshires.

Two of our EEs have black pea combs and no wattles ... how will I know that they're approaching maturity? Perhaps we'll just have to wait to see who starts spending time in the nest boxes.

We do have 3 laying Wyandotte hens that were hatched last fall. Only 1 of the 3 squats on occasion. (no roosters here.)

I happily join your wait and news that your first egg has arrived ... as surely that will mean that ours will soon follow!

I'm waiting for 13 pullets(Columbian Wyandotte) that were hatched 4/12. There are several that are very red for 16 weeks. Have to put chips in the nextboxes soon. I've had chickens for 17 years & the first egg is still exciting!

I'll sit and wait with you!

I have 8 BO ladies who were born April 7. No bright red combs or wattles yet but I'm in no rush! I just enjoy being with my sweet girls.

My girls are early April hatch. The RIR is the most mature of the three and has the largest comb and her wattles are growing. Getting red in the face a bit. The BO is next with a little red and comb. The BA is pale as ever. They seem to be enjoying themselves for now... I'll post the chicken recipes on the inside of the coop next month.

I don't expect my girls to start laying for a couple more weeks.
It makes it easier that I have 3 laying hens from last fall... but we need more eggs.

My April girls are not laying yet, however, my Buff Orpington started her loud "singing" the day before yesterday and the Barred Rock (sorta) joined it. The EEs didn't know what the heck was going on. My Barred Rock is very red in the face and Buffy's comb and waddles are at least hot pink bordering on red. No squatting. I started adding layer feed to their chick starter this week.

I'll join you! We have 4 pullets all born on different dates in April. No red combs, no squatting, no egg songs from these ladies yet. Everyone in the family still checks several times a day for eggs even though we know we are probably a few weeks away from that first egg. I sure hope we see one before the end of the month though. The oldest would be around 21/22 weeks. Just have to wait and see!!
