I so wanted to buy some Blue Copper Marans eggs to have a staggered hatch since my husband enabler that he is fixed me up a hatcher. They will have to wait until this hatch is done so far from 51 shipped eggs on day 8 I have 4 that were bad (2 clears 1 with a small hole those were postal mishaps and 1 with a blood ring). I am having a hard time with the Marans eggs I could only see into 3 enough to tell that are good a couple that might be clears. I have 15 of those to try and candle. I thought I read some where that a green light helped? I have a great set up to see-another thanks so much honey job and because I have been bad

If you have chicken eggs in I was told to take one out. Ducks I was told to leave them both in. I have both of mine in for the turkeys and ducks.

YIKES... I have one out for the geese... should I put it back? I am almost 2 weeks in.. will be two weeks Sat.

here we go I have 11 Silver Penciled Rock bantams due on the 4 or 5th and 11 D'uccles in lav, millie, and butterscotch project due the 6th. I am also collecting eggs from my own faverolles and will probably set 8 or so of them this weekend. I will probably set another hatch of Faverolles some time in April probably after the D'uccles and Rocks have hatched.

Oh well, if you don't get to candle them well, then maybe just leave them in the bator with your fingers crossed. But.... give them the sniff test first to see if they are spoiled & must be removed. Good luck!

Should be a colorful group of hatches, the butterscotch sounds interesting.

My Bantam BS Faverolles chicks from your eggs are doing very well. Will post pics when "wing feathered out" at about 2 or so weeks.

Yes, incubating can be a real rollercoaster sometimes. You still have a good chance that they are fine, just a slow in development. The guidelines state temps that must be maintained, but I have seen & heard of situations where you would not expect them to hatch & they still did. So, be sure to carefully candle at Day 7 or 10, then Day 14 & then Day 18. You will at lease see the dark mass/chick in the middle make progress, the air sac on the wide end will get a little bigger each time & the egg white at the pointed end will diminish & fill with the growing chick each time. With a poor flashlight, after Day 10 it will be harder to see any changes. So, just look forward to the best happening & try not to worry. Candling will answer the burning question.
