Gosh, so many adorable chicks popping out everywhere! Congratulations to everyone!

I've still got nine days to go until hatch day. Let's hope it goes quickly! At least I have school to keep me busy, as well as a quick trip to San Francisco before it's time for lockdown. I'm getting so antsy--it seems like every day just crawls by so slowly!

I've been candling a little pretty much every day and there's lots of vigorous movement going on in the thirty remaining eggs!

Day 18 was Saturday. Went to add water and a wet washcloth for lockdown humidity and found a pipped egg. The little guy hatched out Sunday afternoon.

Humidity was down today so opened bator to add water, misted eggs and scooped the little guy out. He's now yelling his head off in the brooder all alone. Two more mutt eggs and seven bantam eggs (not sure breed yet, need to take pics of the parents) waiting in the bator, due tomorrow.

Yikes ....my temp and humidity have been so bang on and now (day 21) the temp keeps spiking up to 102-104. I am right in my office so can turn it down when it goes up...has only been doing this for 30 minutes. Could this be because the chicks are getting ready to hatch and the "body heat" is increasing? I have 3 pips
Any tips from the wise and more experienced?
Do I need to worry if this goes up for short times?\\
It is now at 100 again...but the bator keeps clicking on and I keep turning it down. I am tempted to unplug it...arghhhh.
It was less stressful being present for the birth of my granddaughter than it is getting this little darlings into the world.

Bummer about the temp spikes, good thing that you are there to aid in turning it down. They seem to be able to survive short spikes, so hang in there. I read once that the friction of the chicks moving in the eggs can raise the temps. Not sure. Also, temps & humidity affect each other. Happy hatching!​
