I remember a bad incubation that tought me a lesson for sanitizing the incubator well. Have recently purchased (online at brinsea.com) some Brinsea sanitizer. In addition, on that same bad incubation, I had used my tap water which is well water. I had always used distilled water in the past, but not that time. I noticed that the water in the trays after the hatch was over exceptionally bad. The whole hatch was very poor with very weak chicks, that did not do well at all. So, now it's always sanitize & use distilled water in the bator for the humidity.

That is certainly NOT a hatch to sniff at! You and Momma 'done good!' As for the laid out baby, I wouldn't worr too much yet. I have had several that worked so hard to hatch that they spent 24 hours or more mostly Laid out. Since she is the last one I would leave her in the warm bator wit her buddy, but maybe open it and give them [her]] a few drops of sugar water or, if you have it a tri-vi-sol [withOUT iron] fortified drink. Bet she'll be up by tomorrow afternoon.

I'd like to thank everyone for being so supportive to all of us here! The stories & pictures that you've shared have been just wonderful! It all keeps us occupied while waiting for our own hatches & helps us learn by what others are doing & experiencing. This has been a very busy month for hatching. It's wonderful to see so many people braving incubations & broody setting. The rewards of a chick or two or more is so heart warming, who doesn't like fuzzy, cuddly babies.

We all have busy lives & this is a great get away to talk about fun things like our chickens. Sometimes life just gets too busy & I can hardly wait to get back on the BYC to relax. Lately, I've had an urgent matter of getting the house & guest room ready for our "long time no see" friends who just mentioned that they are coming from out of state to see us a month & a week early. So, after we close our business daily, I rush home to get onto that project; after doing my chicken chores of course. So, I hope to have more time to hang out on this thread soon, but will continue to check in, catch up, & enjoy what is going on with you all.

There are so many posts, that it can be hard to keep up with; but we keep reading them, waiting for them & posting them. That's the fun of sharing & getting to know each other thru our common interest in "CHICKENS." Whenever I get a chance, I try to check back to see if someone was missed & reply to them. But really, nobody really gets missed, because everyone is reading the posts & sharing in the ups & downs; even if in silence with a nod or a smile to the computer, as not everyone is as much a "budinsky" as me & is compelled to reply. So, please continue sharing your hatching experiences & learning together as we go. You're all a fun bunch of nice people! Thanks!
