I do not know of anything that will help that process along.

I have thought baout getting silkies because of thier reputation to brood.........
but I do not have a place to seperate them from the flock and worry they would get hurt.

and we have veining people! Not one of nori's eggs, but still! It's the little one my friend gave me from her black roo and white hen! I will need a black hen for my project anyway so fingers crossed a little pullet hatches! The other 3 older eggs in the bator don't look as good now that I see one that is viable

The oldest one, 12 days, has some darker matter floating around the yolk but no veining, more like it's bad, and it doesn't really look like chick. Should I throw it out? I don't want it to explode and contaminate the others. The one with veining is on day 4, the other ones are days 5 and 6. Neither of them has any veining and she had been away from my roo for almost 3 weeks so I didn't really expect them to be fertile.

I lost my last olandsk dwarf egg today on day 15. 4 eggs developed out of 9. I lost 1 about day 8 or 9 & lost 2 on day 11.

5 of the blrws are still doing good though.

Here are the rest of the babies in the brooder babies.

The Orpingtons again because I didn't want to try and photograph them again

The Dark Cornish babies

I call this one "The Peanut"

The Jersey Giants

Splash JGs

This is the baby I assisted! He's still a little weaker, probably from having less blood, but he's doing great for his first day in the brooder

The Peanut next to a Jersey Giant

And next to an Orpington!

Here's the one of the Orpington's the breeder lovingly calls "Walrus Chicks"

The little peeper who I separated got stronger and more active until she finally stood and peeped at the top of her lungs until I freed her from solitary confinement :) she is in with the rest and holding her own. I've seen her eat on her own and peck and scratch, still a ways behind the others as far as development - her siblings are 'flying' from one side of the brooder to the other and playing tag etc lol she looks a little dazed and confused but is breathing well and up walking around! I am hoping she will really spark up by tomorrow. Thank you everyone for your help! All the nursing paid off :)

IN LOVE!!!

Set 36 Jean Wade Marans last night. Should be hatching around the 29th-30th. This is my first run with my thrift store turbofan hovabator. All system checks and two day dry run have looked good. Wish me luck!

Going on lockdown with my aprox 40 dozen eggs. Going to be a busy weekend with them hatching and pageant interviews and practice and a wedding.
