Aquarium question, species?

If your tank seems empty, you might want to find a fish that is a mid-level fish. Loaches are bottom dwellers, and you should really have more than one. I'd get at least 2-3 more. They'll travel around the bottom more, and you'll see them better. Obviously, the hatchetfish are top fish, so you just need a middle filler.

Angels would work. The smaller cichlids tend to stay more towards the bottom and make nests. Platys would also work and would add a jolt of color. Look around and see what types of fish you like, and how you want the tank to look. There are fish out there that will work for you. Barbs and tetras, discus, pick a color or size and go from there.

Good luck!

Haven't had blue rams but I've bred jurupari and pearl cichlids (both south american). Jurupari are great with most everything around their size and basically ignore loach, corys, and most 'bottom' feeders. Pearls on the other hand..... if you get a male they are just as bad as oscars.

Have you looked into discus? Had we not ended up with a cracked tank they would have been our next cichlids to try.
