Is too much air flow bad if numbers are perfect. I have a home made incubator and setting my first eggs on tuseday and just thought of something that is worrying me. my tems are good humidity is good to but I am using a computer fan that blows like crazy. Not quite a hurricane but close LOL. Will that cause any problems???

I think you are fine, I have issues with the hurricane fan as well! Just make sure its not blowing directly on your eggs and you should be ok. I up my humidity by 5% in the homemade coolerbator due to the wind factor. your going to have to find what works best to achieve perfect air cells/moisture loss. air is good but you don't want to shrink your babes in there either. We discussed shutting off the fan during hatch, or adding a dimmer switch to control the flow, but I started using and old styro for a hatcher instead.

What humidity level do you run yours at

it depends, I don't like to run it at a "certain number" per say. Humidity is used for monitoring weight loss only, in the winter with the coal stove I have to run it around 45. but I have to alter that as needed for air cell growth. But at lockdown I typically do 70 instead of 62.

I was looking for answer to this question. First pip's started yesterday (day 20) around 11am. My temps and
humidity are perfect, but chicks look dry and have not begun to zip. They don't see to be abe to turn. If I turn
off fan the temp and humidity drop rapidly. Am I getting a false reading with the fan blowing? Or is the fan drying
them out?

We were wondering the same thing. We are in lockdown on Thursday, first hatch, and not sure if we should keep fan running. We have homemade cool-abator and using computer fan. Will fan dry membranes as chicks are zipping?

OMG I should stop reading and asking questions at this point. The more I read and ask the more questions I have and starting to second guess my self. LOL. I think I need to just jump head first and hope for the best.

I know but it is just making me worry more. The good thing is I really don't have much to lose. The eggs I am getting we're less than $10 so if none hatch I will only be out 10 bucks but I will have a very disappointed 4 year old.
