I've read that Araucanas are quite a popular breed in Germany. I'm going visiting at the end of the month, so I was wondering if anyone on here knows of any breeders around southern Germany?

I'd really love to see some!

what i understand is Araucana are more popular in Netherlands

not far from germany

but again dont know any breeders out there

i myself have 3 Lavs but they are British Tailed Araucana

It took me ages to persuade my OH to go on a road-trip around Germany. Now that he's really looking forward to it and it's all planned out, I can't really turn around and say "Actually, honey... let's go to Holland instead!"

I've tried doing some searches on Google, but the translator is rubbish. I heard they had a lot more colours out there than we have in the UK. It would be nice to see some.

I will email the president of the araucana club. They went araucana visiting in Europe last summer and I can see if they have any good tips.

On Feathersite there is a photo donated by Christer Rudberg of an Araucana in Germany. I looked up the name and found a couple of Facebook. Only one has chickens but doesn't live in Germany. May be the same man and you can message him on facebook and see if he knows any araucana breeders in Germany.

Its a round about way but may get you an answer. I emailed the araucana club. I will see if I get any info back.

I received a reply from Thomas, Lanae. He says there are between 300 to 500 Araucana breeders in Germany!

I'm going to need at least six months!

Don't worry, Oregon Blues, we have plenty of non-chicken related things planned too. I don't think we'd be going on this trip if we hadn't! We'll visit the Black Forest, Lake Konstanz (and the Rhine Falls), the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang castle near Fussen, Weingut I, Munich (and the Deutches Museum), Nuremberg and the are above (which I've been told is very pretty), Sinsheim Technik Museum and Worms (to make the chickens jealous). We might even make it to Passau for lunch if my uncle comes over from the Czech Republik.
That should be all about two hours drive everyday.
