Araucana, EE or Barred Rock?

We are new to raising chickens, so I'm glad to have found this forum.

Here is our 1 week old chick...

We were told that "she" (I use that term in hopes that we have a female!) came from an Araucana hen and Araucana rooster, but there was also a barred rock hen in the coop. All of the eggs were brown (the eggs were incubated in our son's classroom). The chicks were mixed...black/white, yellow, and our brown with a black stripe. I'm pretty sure this chick is not a true araucana since the eggs were brown, but is a mixed breed. Am I correct?

No, it is not an Araucana. Araucanas only lay blue eggs. And most people who say they have Araucanas don't, they have a mixed breed chicken that might lay colored eggs, usually called an "Easter Egger". That chick isn't a Barred Rock either, so it could be an EE or some other mix. Some EEs lay brown eggs.

That's what I'm thinking, and I kept telling the person we got them from that I don't think it's Araucana...egg color, no neck tufts, etc. The chick coloring is consistent with pictures I've seen of Araucanas and Barred Rocks, but I'm sure it's too early to tell for sure.

Most likely an EE or some other mix breed. Certainly not an Araucana. Here's hoping you have a girl!

but it will be a waiting game to see what color egg it will lay (or if it's a girl...a little hard to tell this early with EE babies)

I have 3 olive eggers and one that lays a pinkish egg

That looks like an EE. I have one that just like it. She's just a mutt, but she's the sweetest of our little flock and we love her death. She's the one everybody wants to play with first.

And we adopted another chick who had wandered into someone's yard...Daisy...

Daisy looks like she scraped off her comb trying to get out of somewhere, which might be how she escaped...
