did anyone cross a rumpless araucana roo and a faverolles hen? do the chicks hatch rumpless or with tale?

I would appreciate some pics, if possible.

Rupless in Araucana is a dominant trait so the rooster could have either one or two rumpless genes. If it has one than half the offspring will be rumpless, if it has two then all the offspring will be rumpless.

thank you.

the breeder I got my female has true, rumpless araucanas only, so I guess I will use ameraucana roo to raise EE. for araucanas it is ok to be rumpless, but rumpless EE would be a bit strange, not to mention that rehoming extra cockerels would be impossible.

Well technically Easter Eggers are any blue laying chicken mixed with any other breed of chicken. There is no standard so being rumpless would not make it NOT an EE. I am not sure if it would be more or less difficult to sell them being different from the norm.

Ameraucanas are more commonly used to create EEs though. I wish you were closer to me - I would be interested in the pure Araucanas!

I live in greece and people overhere do not accept easily new things. when they see my araucana they think she is sort of handicapped, lol.

I read in this forum that pure araucanas are expensive in USA. most of good breeds you can get here for 10-15 EUR (30-45 day old). araucana was a gift!

Yes, Araucanas are expensive in the US, but they are also bred to a different standard than en Europe so the birds look different.

Very nice! While she is rumpless, the U.S. Standard calls for tufts. I am not sure if I just cannot see in the picture but she doesn't appear to have them. They are the gene that makes breeding this breed difficult as in their homozygous state, chicks die during incubation.

she has no tufts, that is why she has been given to me.I don't mind if the chickens are show quality or not, I just enjoy having them in my backyard and I like to have different breeds (and cross breeds) and colours. I still don't have blue and splash birds, hope some of the chicks that will hatch will be those colours. I am not familiar with the chickens genetics, so I will let them mate and whatever comes up.

There is nothing wrong with keeping chickens just to keep them! What colors do you have now? Maybe I can help you to figure out if and what you need to do to get some splash and Blues. Blues are a dilution of black and splashes are a further dilution of black. You would likely need to have either a blue or a splash to get more blues or splashes but it would still be interesting to hear what you are working with.
