Show Update-
Steve's unbeatable cock "Champ" won the whole show. It is so cool that he is here in Washington. In most places of the US, judges consider araucanas an oddity- hardly worth considering for AOSB, let alone Champion of Show. Steve Waters has really done our breed a tremendous favor by getting great ones out for the judges to see and appreciate.
That's Fantastic news!!!! I know other breeders who were there showing their own amazing birds, so for Steve to win out over these other stellar candidates is really something to be proud of! Gosh, I wish I could have been there! I'm so glad that you were able to make it to the show cmsdvm and thank you for sharing the good news.

Wild! I've never seen this site before, but this answer sure verifies what I've noticed in my own incubating experiences. What in the world would the physical difference be that enables the male fetuses to survive when the females are incapable? So interesting.
I'm just saying that they found nothing to support that the temperature, or anything else they could determine, had any effect on the ratio of males to females and that if there were a correlation, hatcheries would be using that method all over the place. There have been so much studied and learned about poultry for the business end of it, that if there were techniques to improve production or a way to manipulate hatches, they would be utilizing it. If you can figure out a way to produce more pullets, you could make a fortune.
