Araucana thread anyone?

Anybody have any chicks for sale right now? Or hatching eggs? If so, what color are the birds they are from? Im looking for solid color birds. Blue, black, etc.

I just heard back from two people that bought hatching eggs from me. 1 person had three hatch out of a dozen, with 4 others fully developed but didn't hatch. Another person had 8 hatch with two others fully developed but didn't hatch. I am always nervous when I sell eggs. I want everyone to have a great hatch.

Beth,

I am doing good thank you. How are you?

I have some babies growing out and will probably know by 8wks old who I'm keeping and who I'm selling. I have black and black and white chicks. They will all be rumpless but, most likely clean faced. PM if interested

My hatching eggs do great here when I do them but, for some reason when shipped on the Araucana eggs not so good

. I had two different woman drive to my house locally and buy and their eggs did great but, whenever I put the eggs in USPS hands.................well..................I'm not sure if they use them for soccer practice or not? Starting to think they do! So, I'm not going to list anymore for right now

One of my customers told me that his postal carrier said not to bother putting fragile on the boxs because they don't read them. All they care about is how quickly they can get them to the end user. I confirmed this with my Post Office. They were sheepish, but had to admit that they don't look at or care about writing on the box and its up to the person doing the packaging to make sure the contents arrive safely. So I stopped writing fragile, or hatching eggs. I am also tinkering around with how I package them. So far double bubble wrapping each egg and placing it in the box fat end up then layering bubble wrap on the bottom, sides, and top of box has been working the best for me and the people that I have shipped that way to, have had the best hatch rate. Still not as good as I have here. Some people don't have any other option but to buy ship eggs though.

Nivtup- Great looking chicks, super nice tufts on 'em!
Lanae- Congrats on a good hatch, as per your instructions I just just gave the chicks a quick glance and scrolled on down. So... if there are any losses at least I'm off the hook, OK? Do you use a circulating fan in your LG? If so do you feel that it gives a better hatch? Charlie

Yes Charlie you are off the hook. LOL! I don't have a fan in my LGs. I use the dry ish hatch method. I keep the humidity about 25% for incubation then when I switch them to the LG that doesn't have a turner for the hatching portion of the program, I raise the humidity to 45%. I have noticed that my LGs keep pretty good temp. I keep them in my dining room and walk thru there 5 or 6 times a day to peer over the lid of the chick bucket and at the same time I check temp and humidity.

My hatchs are pretty good. I have had a few bad ones, but I wasn't keeping as good an eye on temp, and when the weather changed here, I didn't take it into account. I think I have a handle on it now though.

Definitely looking forward to the eggs from you, Lanae!

Odd question, has anyone heard from Illia recently? I saw on her profile that it has been over a week since she posted, and I was hoping to be able to get a dozen araucana hatching eggs from her too. Hopefully nothing is wrong!

No I havn't heard anything either. That is really odd. I hope everything is ok.
