Araucana thread anyone?

You need a certificate from the NPIP program (need to be NPIP certified) in order to legally ship birds. A lot of people get away with it, but some PO's check pretty regularly, while some don't.

ETA - Nice cockerel though! Very nice leg color for a Splash, too.

Ahah, that makes perfect sense! Well, time to dig up how to get NPIP certified in Michigan, I have the info just gotta remember where I saved it. It is rather costly here though for the testing and time of the tester.

oh man, I hope all goes well for you on that front. I have been trying to get my flock certified for about two years now, but Montana isn't actually capable of doing so at this time..... so..... it has really put a damper on some of my plans. There is a group of us poultry farmers working together to try and get something changed - one gal in particular has put in an amazing amount of time and effort; we shall see...... Let us know how it goes for you out in Michigan. Each state handles it so differently - I'm always interested in the different approaches.

It is quick and easy to get the birds NPIP here in SC. The state vet does not charge anything either so that is a plus. My PO does not check for it but it is best to have the certificate for them if you are going to ship.

I'm so sorry for getting your hopes up. And here I was thinking I had everything in order! Well, with what shipping would have cost, can buy you a few sets of hatching eggs from breeders, maybe there is a chance of getting a male or female who is tufted and rumpless who can work in your breeding program.

Just catching up now.
MA is great for NPIP, the state does it for free, and in short response time.
Elsinor's parents are a pure slpash araucana roo and a pure blue ameraucana hen.
