) Just and FYI if you have black chicks they are all split to Lavender so if you breed the Lav chick and the blacks you will get more Lav Offspring

So, did the chick make it out who had piped on the wrong end?

Actually, it wasn't pipped there, it was probably a chip from where it rolled around. It didn't pip until the next day, and hatched within an hour. It is one of the lavs.

Those do not look like mottled to me, they look more like splash. You should be able to breed them to a black and find out for sure though. If they are splash, you'll get black, blue and more splash. The mottled I've seen were predominately black with white, usually feather tips. Not the best pics but from what I can see, I love the tufted black
