Please share your methods!!!
Speaking of that, Coberdor the 36 eggs you sent me - 14 are fertile and good.

Less than 50% but that's fine with me, long as I actually get at least 10 chicks out of the hatch that would be awesome! I'm hoping for a full 14 or maybe 13 though. After many many hatches I've finally adjusted humidity and methods to where my hatch rates are usually 90-100%. Which is super! Because the first several months of incubating eggs, I'd have super fertility but absolutely terrible hatch rates.

I have a black hen that is broad and deep like your splash cuckoo hen. I know what you mean about the rear ends. I don't care for the ones that are chopped off looking. They look so unbalanced. Thanks for the mating outcomes. I think I may leave her in the black hen pen then. There are 2 birchen and a black with a lot of red and gold leakage and 2 of the three are tufted, all rumpless. I would love to try her with Joker but figured I'd get all splash since he's blue duckwing but when he produces a duckwing, they have excellent markings. I want to keep enough duckwings around for future use when I have a line going of chocolates.

What are the percentages if I bred Topaz to Joker then? He's blue duckwing and she's blue with duckwing somewhere in there.

My hatching methods aren't going to work with everyone, that's the thing. Plus there are some things I do that work for me that most people highly suggest not to do.

But with my modifications of how I run hatches, they don't seem to harm anything.

Duckwing x Solid carrying duckwing = 50% duckwing, 50% solid carrying/leaky

If both are blue, follow the same BBS rules as always, 50blu/25b/25s. If one is blue one is black, follow again the BBS rules and get 50/50

I ended up with 3, care to fill me in as to what colors?

Splash?

All 3 are rumpless yea! but alas no tufts... i don't think i'll ever get them lol. thanks again Coberdor

Pretty chicks!

The first may possibly be a Pyle. I honestly still want Coberdor to post more parent pics

Because I've seen one chick pic of hers that looks like a Pyle, I've got a solid white from her, so it appears she has some dominant white floating around the flock, mixing in with the duckwings.

But, it could be something else too. Either way it is duckwing based.

Second one is a beautiful duckwing of the sorts, either a silver female or a pure gold/bbr type either gender. I know that clashes with my earlier saying about silver chicks but I do find some silvers, females at least, to be nice and brown like that however they also tend to be splits for wheaten, so,

It's a duckwing, that's what is for sure. And not a golden.

The third one is a splash, yes. When fully dry if you notice an odd patch on the head or neck especially with a flash photo it's a splash cuckoo. Time will tell.

Hi All!
I'm taking a break from my endless stream of studying for exams.
Cobredor sent me hatching eggs, I have most of them in my friend's incubator with her batch from Smoothmule (I think). The eggs that didn't fit are in my homemade incubator. We're hoping to see some pips around the 21st, which fits in perfectly with my spring break!
In other (slightly off topic) news, my only rumpless hen isn't doing well at all. She has a limp, and is now holding her opposite wing out. I think I feel a tumor in there. I have a friend at the University who is going to try to help me figure this out, maybe even get the pathology dept to take a look, since my wheaten Ameraucana died from similar symptoms. Why doesn't this happen to a rooster?

One of the chicks has a slightly offset beak. It was one that was stuck in the egg and the head dried in the shell, not in proper position, probably longer than it should have before I peeled it out. Now I don't know if the problem is hereditary or due to the hatching. Carmel, you may be able to help me here.
