I knew you wouldn't let her get picked on Ann. She just looks like it. I have a 6 week old BBR roo that still only has wing feathers. He also has long legs and a long neck. He is ugly. I hope he grows into everything but I have serious doubts. My husband keeps asking me about the new turkey cause he hangs out with my baby pet turkey and kinda looks like him.
Its hatching time again. I finally resolved my incubator problems. Mostly me. I built my own cabinet incubator and it works well as long as I maintain the correct heat and humidity. Which means I need to keep checking it and I got so busy that I wasn't. Now as I walk by it I look at the setting and adjust where necessary. Everything is going good. My first chick of the day is a tufted blue. I have 3 eggs in there that are the last three out of my bbr pen after my roo died so I have high hopes for them. They are still sitting there doing nothing but they looked good when I moved them to the brooder so heres hoping. I have two eggs out of my blue roo in there also. He has three tufts so I am hoping for only two tufts per chick. LOL ( I know it doesn't work that way )
The blue chick is only my second of the year out of my double tufted splash hen. She is in with my tuftd blue roo.
I am going to be selling her first chick which is a double tufted blue roo. I have 18 roos and if its not a duckwing and its a boy it goes.
If you are interested in any birds I may have for sale, please check out my sale page on my website.
Chick is fluffy out nicely and looks to maybe be a blue splash. Next chick has pipped and this one is out of my tufted BBR pen. Soo exciting.
I only have a couple more weeks of setting eggs. I want all my hatching to be done by 1st week of November, and then no more till spring. I can't wait to give the incubator a good cleaning and see about making it a little bigger.
I put the first chick out with a broody that is constantly sitting on golf balls. She is super happy to have something to mother again. I will put each one out with her as they fluff up.
