Araucana thread anyone?

I am hoping to have something to show at stockton in January. I am hatching everything I can. I am getting tufts on my duckwing based chicks but they are too little to tell if they are any good. It is so hard with duckwing and BBR. I have a double tufted black that looks pretty good. If it survives, I will probably take it to stockton.

I am happy you had a good showing Cindy. Steves lf whites are truly something to behold. I am not a huge fan of the whites but wow they were georgous. I really like your little black bantams at stockton. Especially that one hen.

Yes Stockton, CA. Oh please please come. I had so much fun last year. My araucana friend Sean and I went. I left my house at 3 am to pick him up and then we drove to Stockton. I didn't get home till about 2 am but it was so fun. I would love to have an Araucana breed booth there next year.

If I have birds to show, I will be staying the weekend. I am getting too old for repeated driving all nights.

i was scanning through some of the earlier posts, looking at all the pretty pictures. We need more pictures, anyone want to post up some pictures of this years breeding groups? or up and commers? or favorite birds?

Stopped by an area feed store today, they had three or four breeds of chicks. Out of curiosity I thought I would check them out. One bunch was labeled "Araucana's". At the checkout counter I mentioned to the lady that I was wanting some med's for my sick Araucana hen and she replied that they had Araucana chicks for sale. I then politely explained to her that what they actually had was EE chicks and then educated her on what a real Araucana chicken looks like and explained the difference between EE's, Ameraucana's and Araucana's. These chicks were shipped from Mt. Healthy Hatchery and were indeed beautiful little EE's. Maybe someone ought to clue them in to what they actually are hatching and selling....

so i candled my shipped/drop kicked eggs today and even with the super rough handleing the post office gave them, it still looks like signs of life may abound. Hopefully i'll be posting baby pictures in a couple weeks! So excited!

yep, confirmed, 9 little swimmers out of 18, not bad eh!? 4 are in slipped air sac eggs, and 2 are from eggs that their air cells burst believe it or not! This probably has volumes to speek of Lanae's packing job, i think its the only reason i didn't open the box and find a gooey mess!
Soooo excited!
