Araucana thread anyone?

And just a little shout-out to the Araucana people out there -

If anyone ever ends up winning and taking "Rosy" - I want some hatching eggs of hers from you!

That right there is a very nice red Araucana hen, but my money just went to a bunch of Shamos.

I asked Ann about a year, possibly two years ago on her Reds and she said she'd have some available in a couple years, well, now's that chance, and, a very nice hen so happens to be up for auction when I'm not ready.

She has the red color to make a RIR breeder drool! What a surprise to find an Araucana like that - I have never seen anything like her; she's stunning........ and expensive.
I can't seem to get back onto the auction site, are there any bids for her yet?

Not so far. I am tempted but I have nothing to breed her to so what is the point. I would spend it maybe for an equally nice duckwing because I can never have enough duckwings.

The duckwings are really growing on me and I'm not at all happy about that. I have spent untold amounts of money and three solid years at this very tenuous BBS flock that I FINALLY have going. I CAN'T afford to get started with another variety! I have to focus. But...... I hatched out this gorgeous little golden duckwing bantam, and he is so cool. Also, I have a silver Ameraucana rooster and I just can't get enough of him. I find myself thinking that if he just had tufts instead of muffs and no tail, he would be the most intriguing creature ever...... I didn't realize from the photos just how different and neat the duckwing variety is.

I love the blues and now I'm loving the duckwings too.

Oh I agree about the price, but body-wise she's also very nice, and sheesh even the tufts are just about perfect.

A red like her can be integrated into any flock that carries Wheaten somewhere. Even supposed duckwings who are split for Wheaten, which can happen. I have some splits carrying Columbian who are perfect for her, but, I've hardly the $. What I'd like to see though, when it comes to reds and improvements, is on the breast. They've got that light patch going on in some which probably indicates a lack of homozygous Columbian. (females)

I've always been a huge duckwing fan. First Araucana I really fell for was a golden duckwing, the next few also were duckwings of varied colors. And I love a good pure female!

For all those looking for day old chicks, Gary Ramey has an auction going on at showbirdsuctions for 20 day old chicks that will ship out in April.

Why am I not getting e-mail notifications from sites anymore - this one or the auction site? Frustrating. Gary's birds are awesome - thanks for the heads up - I'll go look!

Your breeding pens are great Lanae. You and your birds are on my list of must sees the next time I get out to CA to visit family.
