Araucana thread anyone?

Just wanted to share my 3 pullets. I know their color is not perfect but I have to start somewhere :). The center will go with my new large solid black cockerel and the two duckwings will go with my silver birchen until I find or raise a male tufted duckwing.

And this will be the Roo that will go with her and another double tufted black pullet.

And here is a better pic of her tufts

Pretty pretty! Didn't see the tuft photos when I last posted.

Love the silver duckwing gals too.

Hi All,

I am going to post a link. please take a look at the pics and tell me what you see wrong. For one, the hen looks like she is shaped to have a tail, yes she does have nice tufts, but the ad states their birds are tail less, and the blue chick looks like an EE chick. I hatch hundreds of chicks every year and have never had a cleanfaced or tufted chick look like that. Now my bearded and muffed blue eggers totally look like that. Am I seeing it wrong?

If the person who posted the ad is a member of our little thread, I am posting this because, to me this shows a person who is advertising mixed breed birds as true araucana. The roo looks like his beard was pecked out and same goes for the hen that is behind him. If your birds are real araucana I apologize (sp).

Yep, looks like they have a bearded male with a plucked beard, and the chick pic I'd first say is just a mistaken Ameraucana but after seeing that roo, I'd say they mix Ameraucanas and Araucanas, or EE's with Araucanas.

I think the Silkie mutt supposed Araucana is someone who got some Silkie crosses, tried looking them up, found an Aussie/NZ/European Araucana, and stuck with that as their theory.

Illia,

That was my thought too, that they are mixing the two. And I would say trying to be deliberately misleading. They are listed at True Araucana, and they have a bird with tufts so they know the difference.

Hello!
Maybe it is already explained, but I took a glimpse and didn't find the answer, which is: Is the egg clolor green/blue a dominant gene?? as the rumplessness for example.

Yes, the allele for a blue egg shell is dominant over a white egg shell :)
